Three new career firefighters recently joined the Hartsdale Fire Department bringing more than a decade of additional fire service experience to the community. The new Probationary Firefighters were formally sworn into the department at the December monthly meeting of the Hartsdale Fire District. Their positions became available as the result of previous retirements.
Probationary Firefighters Michael Pellegrino, Robert Morris and John Barrett were sworn into the department by Jason Muldoon, Chairman of the Hartsdale Board of Fire Commissioners.
The hiring of certified firefighters saves the taxpayers considerable money because their previous training can cut almost a year off their initial training in the Hartsdale Fire District.
Probationary Firefighter Pellegrino is a transfer from the Harrison Fire Department where he worked for three years. Probationary Firefighter Morris joins HFD after working for two years in the Newburgh Fire Department and, prior to that, two years with the Bath Iron Works Fire Department in Bath, Maine. Probationary Firefighter Barrett comes to HFD after two years with the Rye Brook Fire Department following three years with FDNY as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Family members of the probationary firefighters and current members of HFD joined in welcoming the newest members to the Hartsdale Fire Department at the swearing in ceremony.
