Those who made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our country’s freedom were honored at the annual Hartsdale Fire Department Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27, 2024.
Along with Hartsdale residents, local neighbors, Greenburgh community leaders, and the Greenburgh Police Department, Firefighters from Hartsdale and Greenville Fire Departments gathered at DeSanti Plaza, across from the Hartsdale Train Station, for a 10am ceremonial start.
During the ceremony, Firefighter Josh Gullotta, a Marine veteran, and Firefighter Michael Ciliberto, an Army Veteran laid a wreath at the Veterans Memorial.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Hartsdale Fire Department (HFD) led marchers along East Hartsdale Avenue to the Four Corners where they turned left onto Central Avenue. The parade concluded at Hartsdale Fire Station 1, where everyone engaged in conversations, photo taking, and refreshing Carvel Ice Cream Flying Saucers provided by the HFD.
The marchers included: a marching band, politicians, the Hartsdale Board of Fire Commissioners, and local Boy and Girl Scout troops. Almost 500 American flags were handed out to participants in the parade and spectators who lined the street.
Thank you to all who braved the weather and came out to show your support.
