Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:30 pm, Greenburgh Squad 36 was requested to Avon Circle in the Rye Brook Fire District for a reported vehicle that had struck a building.

Westchester County Technical Rescue Team along with Greenburgh Squad 36, which consists of units and manpower from Hartsdale, Fairview, Greenville, and Scarsdale were dispatched and responded to the scene.

Upon arrival at the 2-story occupied garden apartment complex, firefighters discovered considerable interior structural damage to the basement wall of the building. Once all apparatus, equipment, and manning arrived, members were able to formulate a safe plan of action and begin the operation.

Both Special Ops teams worked together, in conjunction with Rye Brook and Portchester Firefighters to begin stabilization and shoring of the structure. In the process, shoring lumber was measured, cut, and assembled to create a shoring system capable of capturing and holding the compromised wall in place.

After nearly 3 hours, the scene was called under control and all units returned to service.

Great job by all!
