It has been a busy few days in the Hartsdale Fire District, as HFD Firefighters responded to a couple of Structure Fires (code 10-75s) in the area.

On Father’s Day, June 18th, at approximately 3:20 pm Hartsdale Fire was dispatched to the area of 300 High Point Drive for an outside smoke investigation. HFD units responded, checked and cleared the area, and then concluded that the reason for the investigative response was due to drifting smoke from an active house fire less than 1 mile away on Concord Ave directly behind the Petco Store on N. Central Ave.

During the initial response, HFD units were flagged down by civilians on N. Central Ave reporting a fire up the block. After clearing the original dispatch address, units investigated the smoke condition on Concord Ave. Upon arrival, Car 2172 reported White Plains Fire had just initiated operations at a “10-75” Working Structure Fire at a 2.5 Story Private Dwelling on the district line between Hartsdale and White Plains. Car 2172 checked in with White Plains Command and transmitted the 10-75 for Hartsdale Fire. A full department response was dispatched and HFD units arrived on the scene and went to work with White Plains FD. Firefighters encountered heavy fire from the rear of the structure. Hoselines were stretched, ladders were thrown, searches completed, main body of fire knocked down, and the structure was vented all within several minutes of arrival. Crews then began overhauling, and the scene was called under control. All units were soon returned to service.

On Monday, June 19th, at approximately 7pm Hartsdale Fire was dispatched to a reported Structure Fire on Park View Rd in the Fairview Fire District. FFD E-175 arrived on scene of the 1.5 Story Private Dwelling, was met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the home, and transmitted the 10-75 for a Working Structure Fire. Along with Hartsdale E-170, the following apparatus were also dispatched to the scene: Greenville Ladder 4, Scarsdale E-56, and Greenburgh Police EMS. FFD Firefighters quickly stretched a hoseline to the rear of the structure and began extinguishing the fire. Upon arrival, HFD E-170 assisted E-175 on the interior and was then sent to the roof to cut a ventilation hole above the fire. All tasks were completed, and all hands worked to confine and extinguish the fire within a few minutes. After the fire was knocked down, members began overhauling the fire area and found limited extension. Soon after, the scene was called under control and Command began releasing units from the scene.

As always, all responding members to the above 10-75s did a great job and displayed the utmost professionalism in working exceptionally well together and getting the job done efficiently and safely.
