At 1910Hrs Hartsdale FD received a request from Fairview to dispatch one engine as an additional company to 33 Oak Street for a report of an odor of smoke on the 6th floor. Engine 170 was dispatched and arrived on scene at 1914Hrs. Engine 170's crew located and hooked the hydrant at the entrance to the complex and the was requested to report to the second floor with highrise packs and tools. Fairview command was receiving reports of smoke and odors of smoke on multiple floors. An evacuation of the building began. Fairview members were tracking the source to an apartment on the third floor. While Fairview members started to force the door to the fire apartment Engine 170's crew stretched a line off the standpipe. Fire was located and knocked down in apartment 3K. With reports of fire possibly on the floor below a second line was stretched to apartment 2K and members forced entry to the apartment. No extension was located throughout the building. Engine 170 operated until released at 2045Hrs.

During this incident at 0820Hrs Hartsdale Car 2172, E-171 and TL-15 operated at 230 E. Hartsdale Ave. The initial dispatch was for a commercial alarm. Units arrived to find carbon monoxide readings in the building. Con Ed electric and gas were requested to respond. Units located the source to be from a malfunctioning fan in the kitchen that wasn't allowing proper ventilation. Hartsdale units cleared the scene at 2156Hrs.
