On Tuesday, October 1st at 12:27 pm, HFD received the report of a car fire next to an occupied commercial building located at 220 North Central Ave. The proximity to the structure sent a full assignment from HFD with an additional company from the Fairview Fire Department. While en route, Companies were advised that GPD was reporting that a victim had been removed from the vehicle. Engine 169 arrived on location and immediately stretched an attack line. After a quick size up it was determined that the fire was localized to the engine compartment and had not extended to the structure. Car 2172 established command while members from Engine 169 and 171 worked to extinguish the flames. TL-15 crew gained entry into the engine compartment and performed overhaul to facilitate complete extinguishment. The owner of the vehicle was uninjured. Command was terminated at 1324 hours. |
