At approximately 2:30pm today Hartsdale responded to Greenville as part of a Squad 36 Technical Rescue assignment for a vehicle into a building with an active gas leak. Hartsdale Engine 170, Car 2171, & Car 2174 with the collapse trailer responded along with Fairview & Scarsdale Fire. Our members assessed the situation, stabilized the vehicle, treated the injuried occupants and installed structural shoring to ensure the stability of the building. Members of all four fire departments and the police department established hot, warm, and cold zones. The Incident Commander Car 2151 designated a Rescue Operations Officer, a Technical Rescue Officer and a Technical Rescue Safety Officer to ensure command presence, safety and continuity of operations. Under the Technical Rescue Officer members were divided into separate teams. Team one to stabilize the vehicle so shoring of the building could be undertaken safely. Team two to stabilize the laundry room. Team three to stabilize the storage room. Additional members operated as the cutting table team, fire suppression team, a floor above team monitoring stability with a transit. Lastly a Technical Rescue F.A.S.Team (A team of technician level trained members at the ready to rescue any members in the event of a collapse or emergency) was established and stood by. All units worked together to complete removal of the vehicle safely. With the vehicle removed our temporary Para Tech shores were replaced with more permanent wood shoring. The shoring will remain in place until repairs are made. Town of Greenburgh Engineer and the Engineer for the building were on scene to aid in ensuring the safety and stability of the building. Members operated on scene with the Greenburgh Police Department, Greenburgh Police Tech Rescue, Greenburgh Fire Marshal, Greenburgh Building Department & Con Ed.
