At 1610hrs, Hartsdale Dispatch received a call reporting a person on the tracks at the Hartsdale Train Station, possibly struck by a train. Car 2172 and Engine 170 responded and made contact with PD on scene who located a victim under the train. Car 2172 requested a full shut down of track 2 and a slow down to 5mph on track one. The 3rd rail was de-energized and once confirmed with MTA, members used an attic ladder to make access onto the tracks via the train car doors. GPD Medics and Members of E-170 made access under the train to ascertain the condition of the victim. Regrettably, the victim was pronounced deceased. The scene was turned over to MTA Police. During the incident, HFD Units operated under a unified command between Hartsdale, Greenburgh Police, and Metro North Police and Fire. All Hartsdale units returned to service at 1657hrs.
