In between responding on the high volume of calls for service, the Hartsdale members have been training on various topics to maintain their proficiency. February brought about our annual Hazardous Materials training, where members performed various drills setting up equipment for decontamination for such events. Members also performed numerous hose line and pumping evolutions, in which members learned various techniques to overcome issues with water loss at fires. Another area that was covered was vehicle extrication, including equipment used to remove a victim who was run over by a vehicle, and trapped under that vehicle. As the weather improves, the members will continue to practice their skills to provide the best emergency response possible.
